Peer Nutrition Program*
- What: The knowledge of nutrition and healthy foods and nutritional diets for children and their families. The Peer Nutrition Program for caregivers is provided by registered dietitians for caregivers who have children aged 1/2 - 6years old. The program aims to inform meal preparation of healthy food for their families and to improve shopping and cooking skills. This program also focus to increase the involvement of participants within the local and wider communities.

- When: Wednesdays September 7, 14, and 21 from 10:0am-12:00pm.

- Why: Feeding and preparing meals for your children is not always easy, all parents and caregivers need help sometimes. The Peer Nutrition Program provides education and support to help you provide quick and healthy meals for your children. The Peer Nutrition Program also has been planned to help newcomers preparing healthy diets for their children at Agincourt Library with partnership with the Toronto Public Health. The first three sessions were held in August and the last three sessions will be on September.
Ontario Education System for Parents*
- What: Ontario Education System for Parents. The Education Tree, The Education Path, Elementary & High School System, Specialized program, and Parental Involvement.

- Why: Canada offers some of the best education in the world where children are the beneficiaries. But who is involved in their schooling? Many different people have a part and parents may play the most import role of all. New immigrant parents are invited to attend the workshop to learn and discover more about Ontario's education system.
Citizenship Study Classes*
- What: Citizenship Study Class
- Facilitator: Barbara Zhang and Jenny Zeng, Settlement Counsellors at VAT
- When: Thursdays September 15, 22, and 29 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm
- Where: 2600 Birchmount Rd., Unit A/B, Scarborough

- Why: This workshop is to help clients that are preparing for their citizenship test. Since the citizenship test has been updated last year, most clients feel that it would be more challenging to pass the test. This class will provide information and pre-test help to enhance the knowledge of Canadian geography, government, history, economy, and citizen rights and responsibilities. Sample practice tests questions are also provided from attending the class.
Information on Employment Insurance
- What: Information workshop about Employment Insurance
- Facilitator: Phung Nguyen, Settlement Counsellor at VAT
- When: Friday September 30 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
- Where: VAT Downtown office at 1364 Dundas Street West

- Why: This workshop is designed for clients to understand how to apply for Employment Insurance benefits such as information on the number of hours worked required to qualify and how to reactivate their claim if they have received Employment Insurance in the past. Also, clients will be informed about receiving their Employment Insurance Regular Benefits if they are outside of Canada.

- What: How to become a Canadian Citizen

- Why: Learning how to become a Canadian citizen including study guides, application, waiting period, and eligibility.
