Events

VAT has many exciting events for the entire family. The Lunar New Year festival is an event not to be missed as it celebrates Vietnamese history and culture with music, workshops, food and dance. Help VAT usher in a prosperous and successful new year together. Other major events VAT organizes include a community picnic, Halloween and Asian Heritage Month. TET FESTIVAL 2012



Vietnamese Association, Toronto (VAT) is organizing the 27th Annual Lunar New Year Festival (Tet Festival 2012) - the Year of Dragon on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the International Centre, sponsored by Scotia Bank.

The goal of Tet Toronto Festival is to recreate these festive traditions experienced back home in Vietnam. There will be vendors to replicate the night market, food vendors to sell traditional foods eaten during Tet, and pavilions to educate attendees of the different regions in Vietnam and how Tet is celebrated in these provinces. In addition, there will be live concerts, a children's playground area and many other fun and exciting activities. We hope to see you Tet Toronto and hope you learn about how the Vietnamese Culture celebrate the Lunar New Year!

Beauties of Asia



GAIYA, in co-operation with Lexus of Richmond Hill, present the 4th annual Beauties of Asia; bringing together 21 communities in a collective event to celebrate the beauty of diversity.

In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, eighteen women from different communities will compete to become 2011’s Miss Beauty of Asia. As the second largest Asian beauty pageant in Canada, it showcases the intelligence, beauty, and talents of young Asian Canadians, and encourages them to celebrate their heritage and become involved in their communities. The final event will include multicultural performances, talent, evening gown, national costume, swimsuit, and personality competitions, as well as an awards ceremony.

1st open audition: Sunday, March 20, 2011. 2pm - 4pm 2nd open audition: Saturday, April 2, 2011. 2pm - 4pm 3rd open audition: Saturday, April 16, 2011. 2pm - 4pm

Semi-final: Sunday, May 1st, 2011. 2pm - 4pm Grand finale: Sunday, May 29, 2011. 7pm - 10pm
