Tet Festival 2012
Vietnamese Association, Toronto (VAT) is organizing the 27th Annual Lunar New Year Festival (Tet Festival 2012) - the Year of Dragon on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the International Centre.
Tet, also known as the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, is the most important and celebrated holiday in the Vietnamese Community. The celebration usually lasts between three to seven days. Tet is a very important festival in Vietnam because it provides one of the few breaks in the agricultural year, as it falls between the harvesting of the crops and the sowing of the new crops.
The goal of Tet Toronto Festival is to recreate these festive traditions experienced back home in Vietnam. There will be vendors to replicate the night market, food vendors to sell traditional foods eaten during Tet, and pavilions to educate attendees of the different regions in Vietnam and how Tet is celebrated in these provinces. In addition, there will be live concerts, a children's playground area and many other fun and exciting activities. We hope to see you Tet Toronto and hope you learn about how the Vietnamese Culture celebrate the Lunar New Year!
